Exploring Venice Mindfully by [Howes, Ruth]

Exploring Venice Mindfully by Ruth Howes

Ruth’s writing came out of a relationship with Venice, initially going every year on vacation from the age of seven.

Nowadays it is about changing light, quiet corners, history, stories and the experience of returning many times across the years in different seasons.

“It’s a city where I relax and feel calm.” (Ruth)

The book is being updated, and that is what prompted the development of Reflections on Venice on Substack. It seemed sensible to use research and experiences described in the articles on the blog and the Slow Serenissima service evolved from that.

This website was initially a companion to the book, and in this Drop Down are the pages which link directly with the book. It’s hard to put illustrations in a Kindle or KDP paperback, so the images were put on the Mindful in Venezia website.

This website accompanies the book “Exploring Venice Mindfully”. The paperback and Kindle e-book are available from Amazon.

Exploring Venice Mindfully

The book is a template for exploring the sites and scenes of Venice interspersed Mindful Moments (Momento di Mindfulness). These Mindful Moments are inspired by Venice and pull on Mindfulness and Positive Psychology literature and creative thinking.

Exploring Venice Mindfully is both a guide for sight seeking combined with creative ideas for a mindful exploration of the city. The regularly interspersed ‘Mindful Moments’ are designed to strengthen mindfulness during a vacation – and make memories stronger and longer lasting.”

Imagine … a city which closely resembles that of its Medieval past.

Close your eyes and open them and you might be standing in the Medieval and Renaissance Republic of Venice.”Venice is the place for slow travel. Use this book ‘Exploring Venice Mindfully” to take time to explore the sights with greater depth and connect to the city.

Plan your days with a different focus and in a different way. ‘Exploring Venice Mindfully’ is structured in the same way as any guide book to enable you to explore the city. The difference is the addition of a layer of mindfulness as an overlay to your sight seeing. The mindful ideas and suggestions often have a multi-sensory focus and are designed to make memories stronger and last longer. Venetian inspired Mindful Moments are interspersed throughout the book. These are purposeful pauses for ‘thinking differently’ and they link to the sites of the city and lagoon. There is a uniqueness to every day. Take it slowly. Break up the day differently.

With a ‘slow motion’ approach make Venice (La Serenissima) the place to restore your own calm and serenity.”

The author has visited Venice regularly since she was a child and shares her knowledge and experience as a visitor to La Serenissima. Look at her authors page for information about her interest and enthusiasm for mindfulness and positive therapy.
