Rialto Bridge & Beyond
Rialto is more than a bridge. Rialto is an area of Venice and the heart of the ancient trading republic of Venice. It was in Rialto that merchant adventurers traded goods from the East. It was here that merchants would meet to talk, swap stories of their trading voyages. It was here that plotting and planning new voyages happened.
I always imagine the Rialto area as the stage set for the Shakespeare play ‘The Merchant of Venice’. It is an atmospheric area with the bridge steps in the background.
